May Parenting Horoscopes

Your #1 Resource for Planet-Informed Parenting

School’s almost out! Teachers get a well-deserved break, and the busy season of parenthood begins. Not sure what to do this summer? Ragamuffin’s got you covered.

Aries: This one’s simple: your fire child wants to dance all summer long! Get them started in dance lessons, and provide ample opportunities for impromptu living room shows. They’ll love the spotlight and be properly sleepy for bedtime. Plus, those costumes are soo cute!

Taurus: Your child of spring really thrives in this weather, so make sure your backyard is totally decked out with lawn toys. And if you catch them talking to themselves for hours on end in a pile of dirt? Don’t worry about it, they’re just living their best life.

Gemini: Gemini kids require a lot of diverse stimulation, so one activity’s not going to cut it. Consider signing them up for an all-inclusive sleepaway camp, where they can take classes on art, sports, and everything in between!

Cancer: Astrologically speaking, there’s a lot going on for Cancers this month. Both Mars and Venus are in their sign, so they may seem unusually active and driven lately. Help them harness this sweet b-day energy by letting them pick your next family vacation spot!

Leo: Riding the coattails of their astrological neighbor, Leos will receive a big influx of energy from Mars and Venus toward the end of the month. Be warned: it may manifest in your kid’s first big, obsessive crush. Catching feelings is natural, even at a young age. Just be there to remind them of their own strengths, and don’t let them get too caught up in that lavender haze!

Virgo: Without the structure of schoolwork, your Virgo may be feeling a little lost. Enter: science camps! Check to see if any of your local public schools are running a day camp during the summer. A bit of Magic School Bus and a few field trips to the geology museum should tide them over until August.

Libra: Social butterfly that they are, your Libra will expect a jam-packed social calendar all summer long. And at this age, it’s your job to plan that! It can be tough acting as parent, secretary, and PR representative to your child, but hey, it’s a living!

Scorpio: Scorpios are quite intuitive, and even at this young age your kid will pick up on any undercurrents going on in the family – especially with more time at home in these coming months. Make sure to involve them in important conversations; they know more than you think!

Sagittarius: It’s the season of travel, and your little centaur couldn’t be happier! Unlike other kids, a long day on the road is total heaven to them. Just stock up on road trip games and plan plenty of pit stops. The world’s largest indoor carousel awaits!

Capricorn: Capricorns are artists at heart, but have a hard time making the first move. So as a parent, it’s up to you! Sign them up for an art camp – pottery, painting, or friendship-bracelet making will do. Just watch out, give it a month and they’ll be opening an Etsy shop!

Aquarius: Your little water bearer is obsessed with critters lately. Lizards, bugs, and turtles – your kid can’t get enough of ‘em! If you don’t have a pet, it might be time to seriously consider it. Otherwise, a few trips to the zoo here and there may do the trick.

Pisces: Saturn is retrograding in Pisces until June 11th, making your dreamy child more galaxy-brained than ever. Expect plenty of big questions about how the world works, and more importantly, why? To spare yourself a bit of trouble, go ahead and build them a rocketship.

More on Ragamuffin’s Parenting Horoscopes:

The last two decades have seen an unprecedented rise in conscious parenting. New approaches like Montessori, gentle parenting, and slow parenting have arisen as alternative options to the authoritarian style of yore. Additionally, the Internet has made it easier to share resources and learn from those who have “gone through it” before us. Of course, raising a child isn’t a one-size-fits-all deal. Most parents will tell you that their own approach includes a little of this, a little of that, and above all else adjustments for their particular kid’s needs. Enter: astrology.

While plenty of articles explain your own parenting style according to the zodiac, there’s currently very little on how to adapt that to your child’s individual needs. Starting in January 2023, Ragamuffin is offering monthly Parenting Horoscopes. By cross-referencing resources like Astrology Zone’s Susan Miller, the Astro Poets, and NASA’s Solar System Tracker, we’ll suggest planet-informed parenting tips adapted to each sign of the zodiac.

Remember, these signs are written with your child’s sign in mind. That said, feel free to read the entry for your own astrological sign and report the findings back to grandma. Whether you truly believe the stars have a say in our fate, or you’re just reading for fun, we hope you’ll get some good insights on how to raise individual humans of every disposition.
